Good news for Ontario clients: Most employer group benefit plans cover therapy with a Registered Social Worker (RSW). You may be reimbursed for all or most of the cost, check with your insurer before your first session.
Does insurance cover therapy in Ontario? The short answer: probably yes. Most employer group benefit plans in Ontario include coverage for psychotherapy or counselling services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW). All three of our therapists hold RSW designation in Ontario.
Coverage amounts vary by plan. Some plans cover $500–$1,500 per year, others more. The best way to find out what you're entitled to is to call the benefits number on the back of your insurance card and ask: "Does my plan cover therapy with a Registered Social Worker?"
What to ask your insurer:
1. Does my plan cover Registered Social Workers (RSW)?
2. What is my annual coverage limit for psychotherapy?
3. Do I need a physician's referral to claim?
4. Do I have a deductible to meet first?
5. How do I submit a receipt for reimbursement?
Note: At this time we do not offer direct billing. After each session, you'll receive a receipt with all the information your insurer needs to process a reimbursement claim, including the therapist's name, credentials, date of service, and session fee.
OHIP does not cover private psychotherapy sessions. This is true across all private therapy practices in Ontario, not specific to Mindful Balance.
How to pay
For clients in Canada payment is collected securely at the time of your session through Jane App, our online booking and practice management system. They accept all major credit cards. We also accept payment via e-transfer to mindfulbalancepw@gmail.com.
All transactions are processed securely. You will receive an emailed receipt after every session automatically.
If cost is a barrier
We offer a limited number of reduced-fee spots for clients who cannot afford the standard rate. If cost is a concern, please mention it during the free consultation, we'll do what we can to find a solution.
